Gaskell, 74, of Villisca, who was a resident of Villisca and vicinity most of his life, was held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday at the Wolfe Funeral Home where his body was taken at the time of his death, early Thursday morning. The service was conducted by the Rev. W. F. Clayburg, with music by Mrs. Cy Underwood and Roy B. Means, accompanied by Mrs. J. G. Wheeler. Gaskell, son of Samuel and Amanda Gaskell, was born January 4, 1864 at Leon, Iowa, and when a small child he came with his parents to Montgomery County, settling on a farm near Villisca. He spent most of his life on the farm until 1922, when he moved with his family to Villisca. He was janitor of the Lincoln School building here for several years. Mr. Gaskell was married December 4, 1898 to Sadie E. Bridewell, who with one daughter, now Mrs. Beulah Kimel survive him. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death. He leaves also one brother, Sam Gaskell of Villisca, and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Kimbrough and Mrs. Nellie Moore of Hammond, Indiana, and one granddaughter, Peggy Ann Kimel of Villisca.
