He grew up on the family farm and attended Athens Country School District #67 in Richardson County through the 8th grade. John then attended Humboldt High School and graduated with the class of 1961. He then continued his education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where he received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Agronomy in 1967. He grew up on the family farm and attended Athens Country School District #67 in Richardson County through the 8th grade. John then attended Humboldt High School and graduated with the class of 1961. John worked for many years for the University of Nebraska while living in Lincoln. He later moved back to Humboldt where he has resided since. In his spare time, John enjoyed hunting, fishing and frequenting the casino. John passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at his home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of seventy-eight years, eight months and twenty-four days. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law Harold Koeneke and Paul Burgett. John is survived by his sisters: Elaine Burgett of rural Humboldt, NE; Janice Koeneke of York, NE; brothers: Don Eis of rural Humboldt, NE; Ron Eis and wife Debra of rural Humboldt, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the Humboldt Cemetery in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating. A register book will be available for signing from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska. Memorial contributions may be given to the family's choice with a later designation.
