Bronchial pneumonia, following influenza, caused his death. OBITUARY. Johnnie Henninger, as the deceased was known by all around Potter, was born in Monticello, Ky., May 17, 1900. His parents moved to Kansas when he was but an infant; and his mother died when he was about two years old. Johnnie and his younger brother Leon made their home with their uncle, Leon Calhoun, two and one half miles north-west of this place. John was a highly respected and well beloved young man — a member of the Christian Endeavor of Potter. Last summer he made an attempt to enlist in the U. S. Navy but failing, he went to East Alton, I11., where he worked until he was injured by a flying piece of steel. Soon after receiving his injury he returned to Kansas City and secured employment with the Armour Packing Co., in the canning department; and here he remained until stricken with his last sickness. He became a member of the Catholic Church in Kansas City, Mo., Dec 14, 1918. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.M. Hornback of Cummings, in the churchyard of the Methodist Church of Potter, at 11 o'clock, on the morning of Tuesday, Dec, 17. His body was laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery. There are to mourn his loss, his father, John W. Henninger; a stepmother, Minnie E., both of Bashor, Kans.; an only brother, Leon of Potter; several other relatives; and a host of friends.
