Description	:	John DeVault Jr., 85, formerly of Ney and Defiance, and a longtime resident of Laurels of Defiance, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012, at Laurels of Defiance. John was born May 3, 1926, in Defiance, to the late John Sr. and Mary (Goodwin) DeVault. He married Betty Keys on September 14, 1953, in Bryan, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on June 17, 2004. John was employed by the Ohio Highway Department, where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 1983. Prior to this, he was employed by the city of Defiance. John enjoyed fishing and he loved animals. John was born May 3, 1926, in Defiance, to the late John Sr. and Mary (Goodwin) DeVault. He married Betty Keys on September 14, 1953, in Bryan, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on June 17, 2004. John was employed by the Ohio Highway Department, where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 1983. Prior to this, he was employed by the city of Defiance. John enjoyed fishing and he loved animals. In his younger years, he was an avid gardener. He enjoyed spending time with his family. While at the Laurels, John enjoyed his weekly Saturday outings, stopping at Meijer, Wal-Mart and the Northtowne Mall. Surviving are his six children, Ronald (Carol) DeVault of Stryker, Dave (Patty) DeVault of Delaware Bend, Tim (Glenda) DeVault of Defiance, Connie (Neil) Seimet of Defiance, Jerry (Patty) DeVault of Fremont, Indiana, and Dennis (Dee) DeVault of Montpelier; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; two grandsons, Michael DeVault and Craig Purcel; and two sisters, Irene Dodson and Helen Jacques. Funeral services for John DeVault Jr. will be held Friday, February 17, 2012, at 1 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan, with Bill Priest officiating. Interment will follow in Ney Cemetery. Visitation for John will be held Thursday, February 16, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
