John was born October 23, 1923, in Monaca, PA to Nicholas and Annie (Buric) Drakulich. He graduated from Salem High School with the class of 1942. On May 18th, 1946, he married Dorothy Mae Galchick and the couple had celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary in 2016. John served in the U.S. Army from October 1942 through October 1945 during WWII, serving with the 844th, mostly in Austria. After the war, John held jobs with Salem China, Salem City Hospital and E.W. Bliss Co. in Salem, before retiring. In his younger days, John played baseball, enjoyed fishing in Guilford Lake, was an avid bowler and golfer. Over the course of his lifetime John recorded five holes-in-one and played golf until the age of 89. John was able to play golf long enough that he was able to play golf with his great granddaughter! John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Salem for the last 60 plus years and served at the Samaritan House through the church for fifteen years. John was preceded in death by his parents, his only daughter, Cynthia Ann Hippely in 2014, brothers, Samuel Drakulich, Michael Drakulich (In Infancy), Bronko Drakulich, Chet Drakulich, George Drake and sisters, Mildred Drakulich and Olga Rogers. John is survived by his wife of 70 years Dorothy Mae Drakulich, Grandson, Jeff (Lee Ann) Hippely of Huron, Ohio, Jason (Jaime) Hippely of Sandusky, Ohio, Son-in-Law, James Hippely of Huron, Ohio, Great-Grandchildren Julia Hippely of Huron, Elizebeth Ortner of Mentor, Ohio, Jacob Gilliam, Memphis Hippely and Nikkolas Hippely of Sandusky, Ohio, Great-Great Grandchild, Jaxon Danko of Mentor and Nephew, Donald Lefever of Colorado. John’s funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 24th, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church 1290 E. State St. Salem, Ohio 44460 with Pastor Claye Folger officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Salem, Ohio, and at the family’s request, there will be no graveside service. Arrangements were handled by the Stark Memorial Funeral Home
