He was the son of John March, a Swiss immigrant who had located in 1860 (?) on a homestead borderingtheOtoe Indian reservation. His mother was Theresa Leyes March. On June 12, 1919, he was untited in marriage to Ruth Blanche Willey in Marysville, Kansas. To this union two sns were born, Ronald and Jackie. He farmed in the Oketo-Barneston area most of his life. He retired from farming 25 years ago and moved to a residence in Barneston until 1979 when he became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Wymore. Baseball and horses were a lifeling interest. John played baseball and managed a team after a knee injury. He was interested in education and spent many years as a member of the Barneston Board of Education. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Lizzie Weber, Anna and Emma March; and an infant son, Jackie. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Ron; daughter-in-law, Darlene; sister Lena Weber of Blue Rapids, Kansas; 3 grandchildren, Teresa of Lincoln; Ronald Scott of Milford and Rhonda of Barneston; 2 nieces, Mrs Byron (Eulalia) Guise of Marysville and Mrs Ed (Opal) Skalla of Blue Rapids and 1 nephew, Don Weber of Longmont Clorado. He passed away on January 17, 1984 at the Beatrice Community Hospital at the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 22 days. Rev Cosme Pacot conducted the services at the Barneston Presbyterian Church. He was laid to restin the Liberty Cemetery. Providing music were Marge Maniery and Velma Monfelt. Howard Goin was organist. Pallbearers were Pat Olmtead, Leonrd Focht, John Robinson, Elmo Willey, Raymond Eisenhauer, and Lee Affholder. A memorial fund was established to the Barneston Presbyterian Church and the Wymore Good Samaritan Center.
