Description	:	Dubuque Telegraph Herald Thursday 19 Nov 1936 Greeley -- The funeral of John Farmer, 73, well known Greeley resident, was held from the Catholic Church Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock with the Rev. John Hammill, pastor, officiating. Mr. Farmer was born at Madison, Wis., on Oct. 28, 1863, a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Farmer. He moved to Cox Creek when he was a small boy. John Hammill, pastor, officiating. Mr. Farmer was born at Madison, Wis., on Oct. 28, 1863, a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Farmer. He moved to Cox Creek when he was a small boy. Here he met and married Anna Hennessey. In 1895 he moved to a farm where he lived until 16 years ago when he moved to Greeley. Mr. and Mrs. Farmer were the parents of four daughters, all of whom are living on farms near Greeley. They are: Mrs. Nell Burbridge, Mrs. Nancy Farmer, Mrs. Elma Schechtman, and Mrs. Marguerite Hockaday. His sister and six grandchildren also survive. Mr. Farmer was closely allied with the Holberts for many years, having been employed by A.B. Hobert, founder of the Horse Importing company, before Mr. Holbert was married. He exhibited the first prize winner for the company at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893. The casketbearers were: Martin Fitzpatrick, O.J. Esser, E.J. Corell, B.J. McMahan, Frank Schilling and T.R. Holbert. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery. His death, Sunday, was attributed to a heart attack.
