Description	:	John Frederick Haidsiak, one of ten children of Charles William and Stella Belle (Rouse) Haidsiak, was born on a farm near Nelson, Nebraska, July 20, 1924. He passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 1993, at his apartment at Elk Creek Manor in Nelson, Nebraska, at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 4 days. John was raised on the family farm near Nelson. He was educated at Highland School and Nelson High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Read More	John Frederick Haidsiak, one of ten children of Charles William and Stella Belle (Rouse) Haidsiak, was born on a farm near Nelson, Nebraska, July 20, 1924. He passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 1993, at his apartment at Elk Creek Manor in Nelson, Nebraska, at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 4 days. John was raised on the family farm near Nelson. He was educated at Highland School and Nelson High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was honorably discharged on June 6, 1946, receiving the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal, American Theatre Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. March 27, 1954, in Wichita, Kansas, John was married to Dixie Stevens. He was employed with the Lear Jet and Beech Aircraft Company as a painter. While living in Nelson, his painting was continued, painting farm equipment and tractors. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends. John helped several area farmers during the harvest season. John was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Posts of Nelson and the Nelson Presbyterian Church, now the Nelson Community United Church of Christ. Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Fern Cassell; and five brothers, Arthur, LeRoy, Glenn, Willis and Lester. Survivors include three daughters, Kaylene Pottoroff and Deanne Earwood and her husband, Glenn, all of Wichita, Kansas, and Angela Haidsiak of Las Vegas, Nevada; three sisters, Esther Wurtz and her husband, Clarence, of Belleville, Kansas, Marie Lawrence and her husband, Jim, of Lady Lake, Florida, and Ruth Borcherding and her husband, Harry, at Schaller, Iowa; six grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 30, 1993, at 2 p.m. from Nelson Community United Church of Christ with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Organist Ivan Schafer played as the congregation sang hymns of "Our God, Our Help in Ages Past" and "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory". Casketbearers were Donald Cassell, Jim Jackson, Clarence Wurtz, Glenn Earwood, Ken Himmelberg and Charles Sell. Burial with full military rites by the Nelson American Legion and V.F.W.
