He passed away June 27, 1974 at the Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake, Iowa at the age of 62 years, 8 months and 24 days. Lester Henry Haidsiak, son of Charles and Estella Rouse Haidsiak, was born October 3, 1911 near Nelson, Nebraska. He passed away June 27, 1974 at the Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake, Iowa at the age of 62 years, 8 months and 24 days. His early life was spent near Nelson, in Nuckolls County, Nebraska, where he was engaged in farming. He was united in marriage to Doris Bernice Drake on June 7, 1941. To this union was born four daughters, La Vonda (Mrs. Steve Herron), Dottie, Jackie (Mrs. Mike Goodin) and Kathy (Mrs. David Siebrecht). In 1945 he came to Iowa, where they continued to farm. The last 24 years on the Elsie Seek farm east of Schaller. He was a life long member of the United Presbyterian church, where he served as a Deacon and Elder. "Pid" as all of his friends and neighbors called him, was active in community and church affairs. His life was filled with a career of farming and a hobby as an auctioneer. Among his greatest pleasures in life was enjoying the love and laughter of his children and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Willis and Glen and one sister, Fern Cassell. Survivors include his wife Doris; their 4 daughters and families, Steve and La Vonda Herron and sons, Marc and Daniel of Storm Lake, Dottie Haidsiak of Sioux City, Mike and Jackie Goodin and daughter, Angela of Shenandoah, David and Kathy and sons, Jason and Jamie of Schaller; two brothers, Arthur Haidsiak of Nelson and John Haidsiak of Wichita, Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Esther) Wurtz of Belleville, Kansas, Mrs. Jim (Marie) Lawrence of Wichita, Kansas and Mrs. Harry (Ruth) Brcherding of Schaller; a sister-in-law, Helen Haidsiak of Hastings and many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 on June 29, 1974 at the United Presbyterian Church in Schaller, Iowa. Attendants were William Hummel, Mason Schaefer, Gene Dierenfield, Jack Kenny, Charles Barlow and Harold Cook. Floral tributes were cared for by Mrs. Mason Schaefer and Mrs. Mabel Goodman.
