The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, April 21, 1966 ======= Willis Charles Haidsiak, a life long resident of the Nelson community, departed this life after a long illness April 18, 1966, at the age of 56 years, 5 months and 11 days at his farm home. Willis, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Haidsiak, was born near Nelson on October 7, 1909. His entire life was spent engaged in farming in the Highland community. He was a member of the Nelson Presbyterian Church. On March 16, 1941, he was united in marriage to Helen Cassell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Cassell of Edgar. To this union three daughters and one son was born. Willis was preceded in death by his mother in 1960, and a brother, Glenn, in 1946. Surviving are his loving wife, Helen; daughters, Beverly Seiko, Willa Kay Baker and Linda Haidsiak, all of Hastings; a son, Larry, at home; two sons-in-laws, Robert Seiko and Melvin Baker, and two grandsons, Dale and Glenn Seiko; his father, Charles of Nelson; three brothers, Lester of Schaller, Iowa, Arthur of Nelson, and John of Wichita, Kansas; four sisters, Fern Cassell of Nelson, Esther Wurtz of Belleville, Kansas, Marie Lawrence of Wichita, Kansas, and Ruth Borcherding of Schaller, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of close neighbors and friends. Willis, a faithful and devoted husband and loving father, leaves a life time of pleasant memories. Services were held Thursday, April 21, 1966, at 2:00 p.m. in the Nelson Presbyterian Church with Rev. Peter Vanderveen officiating. Interment was in Nelson cemetery (sic).
