Better Way, May 25, 1922: Glendale -- Mr. Hickman Parsons, who passed away Thursday of last week, was for many years a resident of the neighborhood just north of Ada and it is said by all who knew him "He was a good man." The funeral was held at the home Saturday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by the Rev. Calvary of the Baptist church. Interment was made in the Ada cemetery. (also) Ellsworth Parsons arrived from Colorado, to be with his brother, who was very low. Minneapolis Messenger, May 25, 1922, page 1: John Hickman Parsons was born October 28, 1853 at Cape May, New Jersey and departed from this life May 18, 1922 at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 20 days. He was married to Amy Meltibarger of Tallula, Ill., September 28, 1882. To this union were born seven children, three of which preceded him to the great beyond. His wife and four children survive: Colman S. Parsons, of Ada, Kansas; Emma C. Patten, of Urbana, Ill.; Harry A. Parsons, of Ada, Kansas; and Rheuben N. Parsons of Minneapolis, Kans., and nine grandchildren, also three brothers and one sister, living: Rheuben F. Parsons of Ada, Ellsworth Parsons of Loveland, Colo.; Aaron M. Parsons of Welton, Arkansas and Phoebe L. Price of Ada, Kansas. The funeral services were conducted at the home Saturday, the 20th, at 2:30 p.m. by J.W. Callaway of the Baptist Church at Ada amid a large concourse of neighbors and friends, who came to do the last sad offices for the dead and to sympathize with, the bereaved family.
