Ogle Was Resident of Cherokee County for Forty-Five Years John J. Ogle, who passed away at his home on North First Street Saturday, March 1 at 8 pm was born in Ogle County, Illinois January 19, 1857. Forty-five years ago, Mr. Ogle, with his mother and the family of younger brothers and sisters, came overland from Illinois and settled in Afton Township, later removing to Spring Township, where he farmed for a number of years. After his marriage he located in Cedar township, engaging in farming and threshing until 1913, when he took up his residence at Larrabee, Iowa, making that place his home until moving to Cherokee two years ago. He was united in marriage with Miss Anne Beaman, of Knoxville, Iowa, April 3, 1889. Three children were born to this union. Elmer of Pipestone, Minnesota, Mrs. Lela Jones of this city, and Leonard of Compton, California, who with the wife and five grandchildren survive. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters, all residing in Cherokee County: Howard and Fred of Afton Township, Mrs. George Cave and Mrs. Robert Anderson, also of Afton, and Mrs. L.M. Smith of Cherokee. Mr. Ogle was a man of good habits and splendid character, devoted to his family and home interests, and respected by all who knew him.
