John Joseph Butler was born near Glasco, Kansas, June 28, 1910, to Richard and Margaret Hurley Butler, and departed this life on January 13, 1958, at the age of 47 years, six months and 15 days. On February 3, 1936, he was united in marriage to Neomi Foster, and to this union three children were born: Charles Henry, a student at Kansas State College, Manhattan, Kans.; Patricia Ann, a student at the Brown-Mackie Business School, Salina, Kans.; and John Franklin, of the home. John was graduated from Glasco Rural High School and lived his entire life in the Glasco neighborhood, giving of his time and energy to civilian and religious activities. He worked for the McCollough Oil Co. for a number of years, also served as township clerk for a year. John was always cheerful and kind tho his health was bad for years. John Butler leaves to mourn his passing his wife, three children; his mother, Mars. Margaret Butler, Glasco, Kansas; two brothers, James T. and Paul of Glasco, Kansas; four sisters, Madeline Steinbrock, Delphos, Kans.; Marie Gruenthal, Salina, Kans.; Kathryn Burlage and Rosalie Johnson, both of Denver, Colo.; also a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Butler, on May 19, 1954, and one brother died in infancy. Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, January 16, 1958, in St. Mary's Church in Glasco, Kans., with Rev. James Grennan officiating. Pallbearers were Joe Sheets, Ray Colton, Francis Dillon, Loren Schmidt, James Hurley and Louis Bonneau. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery with Chaput Funeral Home in charge.
