'''''''''''''''''' The Plattsmouth Journal, March 24, 1924, p. 3, col. 6 & 7 DEATH OF JOHN KALINA OCCURS AT OMAHA FRIDAY Aged Gentleman Well Known Here Passes Away After Short Illness – Funeral Sunday. From Saturday’s Daily- The message was received here last evening announcing the death of John Kalina, well known here, where he made his home for a number of years with his son, Cyril Kalina and family. The death of Mr. Kalina occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph Pallister, in Omaha yesterday and followed a short illness. Since the death of his wife in May, 1923, Mr. Kalina has been in failing health and ten months later he too was called to the last reward and to join his loved one in the life everlasting to which he had been looking forward in the long days since the wife was called away. The deceased was seventy-seven years of age and was for many years a resident of Butler county, near Abie, and later when his children settled in this portion of the state, spent the greater part of his time with his wife at the homes of their children. To mourn his departure there remain six children, Mrs. Joseph Pallister, of Omaha; Mrs. Joe Wales and Mrs. George Hladlek, of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Frank Buttery, who is now in Ohio, Joseph Kalina, of Dwight, Nebraska and Cyril Kalina of this city. The funeral services will be held here at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the home of Cyril Kalina, the body arriving this afternoon at 4:30 from Omaha on No. 2 over the Burlington. ''''''''''''''''' The Plattsmouth Journal, March 27, 1924, p. 1, col. 2 FUNERAL OF JOHN KALINA From Monday’s Daily- Yesterday afternoon the funeral services of the late John Kalina were held from the home of his son, Cyril Kalina, on South 11th street, and attended by a very large number of the friends and neighbors to pay their last tributes to the memory of this fine old gentleman. The services were conducted by the Rev. Prachnesky of Omaha, who was an old friend of the family and who paid a tribute to the memory of the deceased. The body was laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery beside that of the wife. The pallbearers were the two sons and four sons-in-law, Joseph and Cyril Kalina, Joe Pallister of Omaha, Joe Wales and George Hladeky of Council Bluffs.
