Description	:	John Kempf was born in Waldeck, Province Hesse, Germany and was the only one of the four Immigrants tracked on these page to land in New York City, which he did on August 15, 1820. He lived in Allegany Co, MD for some time before connecting with the many other Amish in Somerset Co, PA by marrying the daughter of Bishop Benedict Miller. He was also the only one who crossed the Mississippi River and it is recorded that his was one of the first Amish families to settle in Iowa in 1850 and his daughter...
