Description	:	John L., son of Levi D. and Susanna Hostetler, was born on Dec. 30, 1894 in Fayette County, Ill. He passed away Nov. 16, 1959 at the age of 64 years, 10 months, 16 days. His death came almost instantly in an automobile accident about four miles north of Kalona, Ia. In his youth, John accepted Christ as his Saviour and became a member of the church in Howard Co., Ind. Read More	John L., son of Levi D. and Susanna Hostetler, was born on Dec. 30, 1894 in Fayette County, Ill. He passed away Nov. 16, 1959 at the age of 64 years, 10 months, 16 days. His death came almost instantly in an automobile accident about four miles north of Kalona, Ia. In his youth, John accepted Christ as his Saviour and became a member of the church in Howard Co., Ind. Later he transferred his membership to the Conservative Mennonite church in this community, in which he was a member to the end. He attended the Sunnyside church near Kalona. On Jan. 6, 1924, he was united in marriage to Emma Brenneman, who passed away July 17, 1936. five children were born to them: Alvin Ray who died the same day he was born; Lafena of Kalona; an infant stillborn; Vileen of La Jaunta, Colo.; John of Richmond, Va. On Sept. 5, 1937 he was married the second time to Katie Brenneman, a sister of his first wife. She survives him, but was not able to attend services because of injuries sustained in the accident that took his life. To this union one daughter, Sharol Jean, was born, who is at home. Also surviving are two grandsons; one brother, Amos, of Kalona; one sister (Mary) Mrs. Atlee Miller of Amboy, Ind. His parents, one sister, and a brother preceded him in death. Funeral services were held on Nov. 19 at the Sunnyside C. M. church in charge of David L. Yoder and Morris Swartzendruber. He was married to Emma Brenneman, who died on July 17, 1936. On Sept. 5, 1937, he was married to Katie Brenneman, who survives. Occupation: cabinetmaking and woodworking. One son preceded him in death. Surviving are 3 children (LaFena, Vileen, and John), 2 grandsons, one brother (Amos), and one sister (Mary). He was a member of the Sunnyside C.M.
