Description	:	On October 22, 1874, there was born to Conrad and Mary Peters a son, John L. They were living in Carroll county, Illinois, at the time. He enjoyed his church life and activities, whether that... Read More	On October 22, 1874, there was born to Conrad and Mary Peters a son, John L. They were living in Carroll county, Illinois, at the time. Three years later, they moved to Fairmont, Nebraska. Here John grew to manhood and continued to live. On March 18, 1897, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Francis. To this union three children were born--two sons and one daughter. Mr. Peters grew up in the Lutheran church. He transferred his membership to the Federated church. He enjoyed his church life and activities, whether that of worship or the social activities. While rather retiring, but friendly, he made a real place for himself in the life of his friends and neighbors. While Mr. Peters had not been enjoying the best of health, everyone was surprised and shocked by his sudden departure. He became very ill the first of the week and continued so until Thursday morning, when he went to sleep and slept very peacefully for some three hours when he passed quietly into the beyond, as one who gathers his draperies about him and lies down to pleasant slumbers. Had he lived until October 22, he would have spent 64 years in a life of fellowship with those about him. One son, Raymond Edward, preceded him in death seven years ago. Those who survive him are: his wife; two children, Clarence Lewis of Kilgore, Nebr. and Gertrude Margaret Lott of Fairmont; 3 grandchildren; one brother, Conrad Peters of Kuna, Idaho; and one sister, Mrs. Charley Plock of McCool and a host of friends and neighbors. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, September 18, at 2:30 p.m. at the Federated Church by his minister, Rev. Isaac Cassel. A solo, "Face to Face," was sung by Wayne Malsbary. Two numbers were sung by a quartet, Mrs. Mamie Kemp, Mrs. Homer Goodrich, W.E. Black and Wayne Malsbary. Mrs. Cathrine Rupe was the organist. Interment was made in the Fairmont cemetery. Pallbearers were: Harry Bergerstrand, Harry Hall, Oliver Moul, Charles McMahon, Ernest Souba and Conrad Keil.
