Although he had been in failing health for some time he remained remarkably active for a man of his years and his death came as a shock to his many friends. He was born July 26, 1866 in Keosauqua, the son of John F. and Abigale Daughrity. His father died in June of 1921 and his mother in March of 1947. Read More	**Handwritten: 1950 Lee Daughrity John LeRoy (Lee) Daughrity, 84, died suddenly in his home at 415 Franklin street, Keokuk, early Sunday morning. Although he had been in failing health for some time he remained remarkably active for a man of his years and his death came as a shock to his many friends. He was born July 26, 1866 in Keosauqua, the son of John F. and Abigale Daughrity. His father died in June of 1921 and his mother in March of 1947. On Oct. 19, 1893 he married Margaret Johnston of Keosauqua. She preceded him in death. In 1902 he moved from Keosauqua to Keokuk to become associated with the W.B. Daniels Co., wholesalers of fruit and vegetables. Still with the company he moved back to Keosauqua in 1913 but returned in 1921. For a number of years he was a member of the firm and served as manager until it was dissolved. In 1936 he became constable in the office of Justice of the Peace Frank W. Oertel and after Oertel became judge of the superior court he served as constable for Justice of the Peace Elmer F. Head and worked as usual Saturday. He was a member and a past deacon of the First Congregational church and of its brotherhood. He was a charter and oldest living member of the U.C.T. an was also a member of the Royal Arcanum. Surviving are a son, Harry Daughrity of Sweet Acres Farm, Montrose; a sister, Mrs. Harry White of Washburn, Tex. and two brothers, Paul Daughrity of Keosauqua and Craig Daughrity of Des Moines, as well as nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Katherine Nedeau who came to Keokuk three years ago to be with Mr. and Mrs. Daughrity. In addition to his wife who preceded him on Feb. 11 of this year, he was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Kenneth LeRoy Daughrity May 1, 1947, a brother, Ed Daughrity and a sister, Mrs. Carey Maltbie. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Schmidt Memorial Home in Keokuk with the Rev. James Philip officiating. Burial was in Purdom cemetery at Keosauqua. Source: Van Buren Co.
