Description	:	"In 1895 he went into the clothing business in Guttenberg, which he conducted until 1900, when he organized the Guttenberg State Bank, of which he was cashier and later President, which position he held at the time of his death. He assisted in the organization of the Guttenberg Canning Company, of which he was treasurer continuously up to the time of his death. He assisted in the organization of the Guttenberg Excelsior Mfg. Co., of which he was an officer. He assisted in the organization of the Enderes, Son and Company Corporation, of Guttenberg, and in arranging with Mr. Ernest... He assisted in the organization of the Guttenberg Canning Company, of which he was treasurer continuously up to the time of his death. He assisted in the organization of the Guttenberg Excelsior Mfg. Co., of which he was an officer. He assisted in the organization of the Enderes, Son and Company Corporation, of Guttenberg, and in arranging with Mr. Ernest Enderes the manufacture of the Original Enderes Tools in Guttenberg, of which company he was an officer, but later declined to hold office therein, because of pressing demands upon his time. However he took an active part and was largely depended upon in financing these enterprises. It was Mr. Eckart who fought alone for the improvement of Guttenberg Channel as the Main Channel at this point, covering a distance of about 14 miles.He rowed out on the river at all hours of both night and day in order that he might interest steam-boat Captains as their boats were passing Guttenberg, in the fight that he was waging, and everyone of them signed a petition for the improvement of the Guttenberg Channel.He knew each Captain personally and all of them were his friends. He could see a future to river traffic. He believed in it. He fought for it. He carried the fight in behalf of Guttenberg before the Army Board appointed to investiage and report upon this question, with the result that the Guttenberg Channel was selected as the channel past Guttenberg." Per his obituary He was married to Linnie K. Borman on July 31, 1894 at Elkader, Iowa and is the father of 7 chidren.
