MEARS BURIED SUNDAY Mr. John Thomas Mears, prominent Crisfield resident whose home was on Locust street, died suddenly at the McCready Hospital Thursday afternoon of last week, June 11th, at the age of 75 years. Mr. Mears suffered a heart attack Monday, and was taken to the hospital for treatment, and suffered several other attacks while there. MEARS BURIED SUNDAY Mr. John Thomas Mears, prominent Crisfield resident whose home was on Locust street, died suddenly at the McCready Hospital Thursday afternoon of last week, June 11th, at the age of 75 years. Mr. Mears suffered a heart attack Monday, and was taken to the hospital for treatment, and suffered several other attacks while there. A native and lifelong resident of Crisfield, he was the son of the late John Henry and Susan Dunton Mears, and the husband of Mrs. Oval Laird Mears, to whom he had been married for 52 years. Employed in the mercantile business as a young man, he later was associated with the Crisfield Ice and Consumers Manufacturing Companies for more than 25 years, retiring about seven years ago. He also had held a position with the Potomac Poultry Food Company of this city. Mr. Mears was a man of fine presence and personality. He was kindly and courteous to everyone, made friends easily and held them in warm bonds of affection. He had been a fine citizen, an energetic and helpful man, and was held in high regard and esteem by everyone who knew him. He was a staunch supporter and member of Mt. Pleasant Church, and had recently been made a member of the Official Board there. He enjoyed its services and took an active part in its affairs. Funeral services were held in the Bradshaw Funeral Parlors at 1:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by his pastor, Rev. A. T. McFarland. Interment was in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. Bearers were Harold Poleyett, Richard Sterling, Melvin Byrd, Charles Hubbert, A. Wellington Tawes and J. Edwin Tawes. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Oval Laird Mears, one son, Jennings B.
