Description	:	John Thomas Reimers (1918 - 1984) John Thomas Reimers was born on May 13, 1918 near Schleswig, Iowa, the son of Gustav and Emma Rehemke Reimers. He died Dec. 4, 1984 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, at the age of 66. John was baptized as an infant and later during the years of his education he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. Read More	John Thomas Reimers (1918 - 1984) John Thomas Reimers was born on May 13, 1918 near Schleswig, Iowa, the son of Gustav and Emma Rehemke Reimers. He died Dec. 4, 1984 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, at the age of 66. John was baptized as an infant and later during the years of his education he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. He completed his education in the rural schools near his home. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Henrietta Preuss on Aug. 17, 1942 in Omaha, Nebr. After his release from the army, they made their home on a farm near Charter Oak. In 1980, John retired from farming, but continued to make his home on the farm near Charter Oak. John was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. He was also a member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one sister Hilda Schau. Survivors include, his wife Henrietta of Charter Oak, one son Allen and his wife Heather of Kiron, one daughter Shirleen and her husband Fred Jepsen of Charter Oak, eight grandchildren and three sisters, Elsie Reimers and Anna Reimers both of Schleswig and Lucille, Mrs. Emil Ress of Manning. Funeral services were held Dec. 7, at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. Burial was in the Morgan Cemetery near Schleswig. The Rev. L.C. Gebhardt officiated at the services. Mrs. Paul Clausen served as organist with the congregation singing. Pallbearers were Vernet Soenksen, Art Soenksen, Wilbur Reimers, Gary Schau, LeRoy Mathews, and Delaine Blunk.
