Description	:	Joseph Bruce, son of Joseph and Meriah Foster, was born at Knoxville, Ill, Feb 14, 1858. He passed away at McKennon hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., Nov 18, 1948, at the advanced age of 90 years, 9 months and [blank] days. He was the last of a family of 9 sons. Mr Foster came to Page county as a young man, living here until the year 1909, when he moved to South Dakota. Read More	Joseph Bruce, son of Joseph and Meriah Foster, was born at Knoxville, Ill, Feb 14, 1858. He passed away at McKennon hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., Nov 18, 1948, at the advanced age of 90 years, 9 months and [blank] days. He was the last of a family of 9 sons. Mr Foster came to Page county as a young man, living here until the year 1909, when he moved to South Dakota. After 10 years there, he made his home in North Dakota and Minnesota respectively, for a number of years. Last June, he became ill. He was taken to the hospital on July 1st, where he remained until his death. On Dec 28th, 1882, Mr Foster was united in marriage to Sarah Almeda Linebaugh in Page county. She passed away September, 1919, also at McKennon hospital in Sioux Falls. Eight children were born to them. A son, Ernest, died at the age of 5 years, and two other children passed away in infancy. The five children surviving are: Mrs Elsie Gustafson of Douglas, Minn, Cecil Foster of Sioux Falls, SD, Mrs Ida Brummett of Norfolk, Neb, Mrs Winnie Anderson of Bison, SD and Mrs Maude Hale, who is in Tokyo, Japan. In addition to the above named children, there are 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Many years ago Mr Foster was accepted as a brother in the Masonic Lodge at New Market. He later took his membership to Dakota. He always enjoyed the inspiration of the work, and the fellowship of the fraternity. The funeral service was held Monday, Nov 22, 1948, at Walker funeral home in Clarinda. Rev W.W. Bentzinger, pastor of First Methodist church, was the clergyman in charge. Burial was in Old Memory cemetery, near New Market, with members of the Masonic Lodge officiating.
