Description	:	Tom Foster, one of the older retired farmers of Clarinda, died quietly at his home on north 12th street early Sunday morning. When Mrs Foster awoke at about 5 o'clock, he could not be wakened, and had died without giving warning. He had not been in as good health for three weeks, but his illness was not considered serious. He was 87 years of age and still an active man, although not practicing farming since the family came to town thirteen years ago. Read More	Tom Foster, one of the older retired farmers of Clarinda, died quietly at his home on north 12th street early Sunday morning. When Mrs Foster awoke at about 5 o'clock, he could not be wakened, and had died without giving warning. He had not been in as good health for three weeks, but his illness was not considered serious. He was 87 years of age and still an active man, although not practicing farming since the family came to town thirteen years ago. The home farm is 5 1/2 miles east of Clarinda where the large family was reared to become a fine group of men and women. All the children but two have been able to join the mother at this time of bereavement. The funeral is being held Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at Pruitt Funeral home, in charge of Rev W. Frank Lister, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial will be in Memory cemetery, in the vicinity of the old home. The living children are Mrs A.E. Abrahamson of Red Oak, Thurman of Denver, Colo, Mrs C.C. Goff of Seattle, Wash, Homer Foster of Gravity, J.B. Foster of Oregon City, Ore, Mrs H.F. Graham of Des Moines, Mrs I.W. Blankenship of Lawton, Dwight Foster of Lenox and Mary Foster at home. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Oct 24, 1938 Thomas Marion, son of Joseph C. and Maria Kingham Foster, was born August 24, 1851, in Knox county, Illinois, and died October 23, 1938, aged 87 years, 1 month and 29 days. He came to Iowa in pioneer days in the year 1875 and settled in Page county. Except for a few years spent in Taylor county he lived here the rest of his life. On Jan 3, 1884, he was united in marriage to Albina Frances Hebbert. To this union eleven children were born, Herbert and Howard deceased; Mrs A.E. Abrahamson, Red Oak; Thurman, Denver; Mrs C.C. Goff, Seattle, Wash; Homer, Gravity; J.B., Oregon City, Oregon; Mrs H.F. Graham, Des Moines; Mrs I.W. Blankenship, Lawton, Ia; Dwight, Lenox, Ia, and Mary at home. Besides 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Also four brothers living, Fred C. Clarinda; Richard L. Cool Springs, S.D.; Smith, Highmore, S.D., and Bruce, Jamestown, N.D.; four brothers having preceded him in death, Will; his twin brother, John; Scott, and Homer B. He was an active farmer, cattle feeder, livestock buyer and shipper. He moved from his farm in the year 1925, but still led a very active life until the last few months of his life.
