Description	:	Joseph Dorgan Meier, 16, died last evening (August 31, 1938) at the Atchison Hospital. His death was attributed to peritonitis. He had entered the hospital a week ago for medical attention. Dorgan, as he was known to his family and friends, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Meier, 1020 North Tenth street. He was born on October 23, 1921 in Atchison. He was graduated from St. Benedict's grad school and for the past three years had attended the Atchison High School. He would have been a senior there this year. He had always been active... Read More	Joseph Dorgan Meier, 16, died last evening (August 31, 1938) at the Atchison Hospital. His death was attributed to peritonitis. He had entered the hospital a week ago for medical attention. Dorgan, as he was known to his family and friends, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Meier, 1020 North Tenth street. He was born on October 23, 1921 in Atchison. He was graduated from St. Benedict's grad school and for the past three years had attended the Atchison High School. He would have been a senior there this year. He had always been active in school work, and was interested in athletics, belonging to several athletic clubs. He was also assistant business manager of "The Opty", the school's newspaper. He was a fine young boy, good-hearted and with a smile and a kind word for everyone. He was well-liked amoung his school friends and his teachers. He is survived by his parents; three brothers, Charles, LeRoy and John Meier; three sisters, Rosemary, Bertha Jean and Ruthanna Meier; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Dorgan, all of Atchison. Funeral services were held at St. Benedict's Church and burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Schoolmates were the pallbearers.
