Description	:	Mrs. Josephine Funke, age 87 widow of the late John T. Funke and one of the best beloved and highly respected residents of this community, died at her home east of Tipton Wednesday morning at 2:30 o'clock, death following a stroke, of paralysis suffered Thursday evening of last week. Following the first attack Mrs.Funke rallied and it was thought she was going to survive the attack but Sunday her condition became worse and she lapsed into a state of coma from which she could not be aroused. Surviving are several children; Mrs. Herman G. Koors, residing northeast of Tipton; Henry Funke, residing east of Tipton; Theodore, who resides on the home place and with whom Mrs. Funke made her home. Mrs. Hardebeck residing southwest of Elwood. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by a half-sister, Mrs. Henry Kottman, at Cincinnati, Ohio. Josephine Weldam Funke was born in Franklin county, near Oldenburg, May 31st 1840 and was the daughter of Frederick and Margaret (Shoemaker) Weldam, pioneer residents of that community. Both parents were natives of Germany. and are buried at Oldenburg. The mother died in 1842 when Mrs. Funke was a baby. The father died in 1889. April 12, 1861, Mrs. Funke and her husband John T. Funke were united in marriage by Rev. Father Rudolph in the catholic church at Oldenburg and they continued to reside in Franklin county until the year 1887 when they removed to Tipton county locating east of Tipton where they had one of the best farm homes and possession in this county. The husband died in 1923 at his home of blood poisoning.
