Description	:	Friday evening a distressing accident occurred at the home of John Funke, three miles east of Tipton, which resulted in the death of Miss Rose, the thirteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Funke. The unfortunate girl was walking behind the horses when one of the rings broke, causing the double trees to swing back with terrible force, striking her in the right side, breaking one of the ribs and causing internal injuries. Read More	Friday evening a distressing accident occurred at the home of John Funke, three miles east of Tipton, which resulted in the death of Miss Rose, the thirteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Funke. The unfortunate girl was walking behind the horses when one of the rings broke, causing the double trees to swing back with terrible force, striking her in the right side, breaking one of the ribs and causing internal injuries. She walked to a seat a few steps away, and when friends came to her aid she told them that she would die. She was taken to the house and a surgeon called and everything that human skill could do was resorted to in order to save her life, but she lingered about six hours and then died. She talked of death calmly and with no fear. She expressed her wishes to her sister regarding the funeral and burial dress. Father Kroeger was sent for at her request. She died a most beautiful death, fortified by the rites of our holy church. Death is sad when it comes to the young, but the knowledge that it was well prepared for takes away much of it's bitterness. She was buried Monday morning. The funeral was one of the largest that has ever taken place in Tipton. The following members of her first communion class were chose by herself for pall bearers: Mary Mattingly, Rosa Altherr, A. Welsh, Agnes Hickner, Molly Dalton and Tillie Bath. Flowers Girls were M. McCue and Mary Weidenbaugh. Rest in Peace.
