Description	:	Josiah Francis was born at Dupont, Jefferson county, Indiana, November 26, 1832, where he grew to manhood and was married on October 31, 1859, to Belona Rector, who preceded him to the unseen world, November 7, 1894. To this union six children were born: M.E. Francis of Holdrege, Nebraska; H.A. Francis of Milton, Kansas; Mrs. C.L. Shriver of Orange, California; Mrs. C.E. Geyer, Mrs. J.L. Peters and Mrs. G.A. Read More	Josiah Francis was born at Dupont, Jefferson county, Indiana, November 26, 1832, where he grew to manhood and was married on October 31, 1859, to Belona Rector, who preceded him to the unseen world, November 7, 1894. To this union six children were born: M.E. Francis of Holdrege, Nebraska; H.A. Francis of Milton, Kansas; Mrs. C.L. Shriver of Orange, California; Mrs. C.E. Geyer, Mrs. J.L. Peters and Mrs. G.A. Peterson of Fairmont, Nebraska. He moved west in 1879 and to Fairmont in 1892, where the remainder of his life was stent. In 1875 he united with the Christian church and later with the Methodist church. He lived a devoted Christian life until the summons came to call him to the Great Beyond. After an illness of several months, he departed from this life February 12, 1913, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C.E. Geyer of east Fairmont. All his children were present at his bedside with the exception of Mrs. C.L. Shriver and H.A. Francis, who were unable to be present. He leaves fourteen grandchildren and besides these and his children, he has no other relatives living. Although he was confined to his bed for many months, he never uttered a complaint. He was a kind and loving father and will be greatly missed by those near and dear to him. The funeral services were conducted from Grace Methodist church of Fairmont by Rev. Lotan R. DeWolf and the remains were laid to rest by the side of those of his former companion in the Fairmont cemetery.
