Also, the 1910 census documents Juana having given birth to 11 children in her lifetime, which would be the Westgate children and then her children by her next marriage to Smith. Balensala 9, Poumonause 7 (Jennie) Daniel 3, "infant male" 4 months 1867 fire Nov. 2; storehouse & barn filled with hay and grain, loss $2,500 1868 marriage failing A notice in the local paper reads "All persons are hereby warned against purchasing any Lands or Real Estate of my wife, Juana B. Smith, 43 dau-in-law Clarissa, 25 -2nd marriage for both, married 4 years 1920 census Bolinas township Juana McGovern 82, widowed daughter Jennie Fletcher, widowed *** * * Woman Dies After 100 Years in Marin County** Marin County yesterday lost its oldest resident and California its oldest native daughter, when Mrs. Juanna McGovern, daughter of one of the early governors of California, died at her home in Bolinas at the age of 103 years. She had resided in Marin County for 100 years, having removed to Bolinas with her parents when she was 3 years of age. She was the wife of Richard McGovern, and leaves 2 sons, Sherman Smith and J.H. Smith. Mrs. McGovern was the daughter of Gregorio Briones, who was at one time governor of California. In the early days of Marin County her father owned 9 square miles of land in the Bolinas section, their holdings being one of the old Spanish grants. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Catholic Church at Bolinas where a requiem mass will be celebrated. Interment in the family plot in the Bolinas Cemetery.
