Stratford Courier November 28, 1918 Obituary Naslund Caroline Albertina Heddin was born August 13, 1848 in Alfta, Jefleborgs lan [Gavleborgs], Sweden. From there she moved with her parents to Ockelbo Socken, Sweden where she was confirmed in the Lutheran church. She died at the family home just west of Stratford November 20, 1918, aged 70 years, 3 months, 7 days. A week before her death she contracted the influenza and having been in poor health for many years, the disease easily claimed her life. She was one of the pioneer settlers of this region of Iowa coming here from Sweden in 1872. She was united in marriage to Peter Naslund January 7, 1873. Seven children were born to this union. Two of them, Willie and Hanna preceded in death many years ago. The living children are: John, Edward, Emma and Arthur, of Stratford, and Hilma of Des Moines. Besides these she leaves to mourn her passing, one brother, Gust Heddin of Ideal, S.D. and two sisters, Mrs. Johanna Lagerstrom, Rockford, Ills., and Mrs. Christina Anderson who resides in Sweden. Numerous friends in and around Stratford feel deeply the loss of a tried and true friend. For many years deceased had been an almost constant sufferer from disease and yet she was never heard to complain at her lot. A true mother and a loving wife she made her home a welcome place for her children and never gave a thought to her own condition in doing all she could for them. A noble woman has gone to Her home prepared for her by the Saviour of all men. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. C.A. Callerstrom who used for his text the words found in Job 1-9, "Doth Job fear God for naught?" Interment was made in Oakwood cemetery. Card of Thanks We wish to express our sincere thanks to the kind friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during our bereavement in the sickness and death of our beloved wife and mother; also for the beautiful flowers and for the singing.
