Description	:	Stratford Courier March 30, 1922 OBITUARY Naslund Peter Naslund passed away at the family home southwest of Stratford, Saturday morning, March 25, 1922, after an illness of but a few days. He had been feeble for some time and had failed considerably the past few months but last week was taken ill with yellow jaundice and the disease was so serious with one of his age that he lingered but a very short while. Read More	Stratford Courier March 30, 1922 OBITUARY Naslund Peter Naslund passed away at the family home southwest of Stratford, Saturday morning, March 25, 1922, after an illness of but a few days. He had been feeble for some time and had failed considerably the past few months but last week was taken ill with yellow jaundice and the disease was so serious with one of his age that he lingered but a very short while. Deceased was one of the pioneer settlers of this community, coming to this locality in an early day when living conditions were far from what they are today. During the last few years he has contented himself with remaining at his home making but a very few trips to town or anywhere else in the last ten years. His farm has been conducted by his sons while he has been doing only the lighter bits of work about the place. With his death another pioneer of Iowa has passed on. They are getting fewer and fewer until soon there will be but their memory left to us. Peter L. Naslund was born in Ockelbo, Gävleborgs Län, Sweden, December 26, 1842. He had attained the ripe old age of 79 years, 2 months, 29 days. He came to America locating in Boone, June 18, 1869 and shortly afterward moved into this community. He was united in marriage Jan. 7, 1873, to Carolina Huddin. She preceded him to the Heavenly home, Nov. 20, 1918. Five sons and daughters are left to mourn the death of their father. They are: John P. Naslund, Emma Naslund, Edward Naslund and Arthur Naslund, all of this place, and Miss Hilma Naslund, of Des Moines. He also leaves several grandchildren besides other relatives and a large host of intimate friends. Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. S.P. Holmberg of the local Lutheran church and the remains were laid beside those of his departed wife in Oakwood cemetery.
