Mrs. Kate Faubel Funeral services for Mrs. Kate Faubel, 46, formerly of Norfolk and Battle Creek, were held Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Columbus, O., where she died Feb. 3 after a long illness. At the age of 11 years the former Kate Hale came from Virginia to make her home in Nebraska. For fifteen years she owned and operated a cafe' at Battle Creek then known as the E. O. Whalen cafe'. She was preceded in death by a son, Donavan, who died in infancy, and a daughter, Dorothy, who died in 1937. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Harland Nelson of Sioux City, Ia., and Mrs. Robert Madden of Columbus, O., as well as several sisters and brothers, all living in Ohio. She was born in Virginia in 1899 and came to the Battle Creek community when she was 11 years old. For fifteen years she owned and operated a cafe' in Battle creek, later moving to Norfolk. Surviving are her husband, George; two daughters, Mrs. Harland Nelson of Sioux City, and Mrs. Robert Madden of Columbus, Ohio; four brothers and sisters; Mrs. Lula Davis, Con Hale, both of Detroit, Mich.; Willard Hale, Columbus, Ohio, and a brother in California. She was preceded in death by one son, Donovan, who died in infancy, and a daughter, Dorothy, who died in 1937.
