She was born January 12th, 1922 in Howard County Indiana to Fred and Edith (Ramey) Martin. On July 19th, 1940 she married Joseph L Deakyne. He preceded her in death on September 18th, 1997. Katherine had worked at Delco Remy in Anderson, and was a member of Cape Haze Community Church in Placida, Florida. She was a member of the Lady Elks and Tipton County Shares. She is survived by three children, Larry Deakyne of Cool California, Judith Hicks of Tipton and Pamela Jones of Rotunda West Florida; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and two step-grandsons and six step-great grandchildren. Funeral serivces will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Young Nichols Funeral home (of Tipton). Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 114 Veronica Street, Port Charolotte, Florida 33952.
