Description	:	Kenneth Spears, 88, of Hedrick passed away Sept. 18, 2007, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Kenneth Dewey Spears eldest son of Raymond and Beulah (Lisk) Spears was born Jan. 4, 1919, in the home of his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Lisk. He attended Tom Benton grade school for 6 years, South Honey Grove his 7th and 8th grade years and graduated from Delta High School in 1937. Read More	Kenneth Spears, 88, of Hedrick passed away Sept. 18, 2007, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Kenneth Dewey Spears eldest son of Raymond and Beulah (Lisk) Spears was born Jan. 4, 1919, in the home of his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Lisk. He attended Tom Benton grade school for 6 years, South Honey Grove his 7th and 8th grade years and graduated from Delta High School in 1937. On Jan. 16, 1941, he was united in marriage to Frances Campbell in Lancaster, Mo. They have been honored with 66 years of marriage. On Aug. 25, 1942 he was drafted into the Army and sent to Camp Dodge. He attended basic training at Camp Robinson, Ark., then schooling at Midwest Motive Trade Institute in Bloomington, Ill. Kenneth took training for overseas duty at El Paso, Texas and spent two years overseas in the South Pacific serving through 5 campaigns, New Guinea, Admiralty Island, Luzon, Leytia and Manila of the Philippines, where he was sent home on the point system and discharged on Oct. 7, 1945. He spent his entire life farming and after retiring still kept busy. Kenneth was a volunteer driver on the ground train at Old Threshers at Mt. Pleasant for 24 years each fall and received honors for his service in Sept. of 2000. He was a 60 year member of the Arendt Bowlin Stubbs American Legion Post No. 83 of Hedrick. Kenneth also enjoyed going to Branson, Mo., and other travels when his health permitted. He enjoyed coffee time with friends. Survivors include: his wife Frances; two children: Jim and wife Mary Spears, of rural Hedrick, and Jone and husband Dennis Molyneux, of rural Rose Hill; Three granddaughters: Janean (Curt) Dimmig, of Madison, Wis., Annette (Joe) Roe, of Fremont, and Devan (Curt) Lamberson, of Rose Hill; five great-grandsons:, Triston, Talon and Ty Roe, and Cauyer and Tieron Lamberson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Doyle.
