Roanoke Times, The (VA) - Wednesday, December 1, 1993 _______________ Lance Greer, 73, a retired Fairfax County police captain and longtime resident of Fairfax Station, died Nov. 29 of cancer. Born in Grayson County, Va., Mr. Greer attended schools there before enlisting in the Army in 1941. After serving during World War II, he joined the Fairfax County Police Department in 1946 and worked his way through the ranks from motorcycle cop to bureau detective to uniform captain by the time of his retirement in 1974. Mr. Greer spent much time at his second home in Grayson County, fishing and hunting. He was also a member of the Retired Policeman's Association. Survivors include his wife, Florence Collier Greer of Fairfax Station; two daughters, Ellen Greer Harvey of Richmond and Barbara A. Greer of Fairfax; a son, David L. Greer of Fairfax; and three grandchildren. The viewing was held yesterday at Everly Funeral Home in Fairfax with services today at 10 a.m. in the Everly Chapel. His body will then be taken to Grayson County where there will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Faith Lutheran Church. There will be a graveside service Friday at the Cabin Creek Cemetery in Grayson County. Washington Times, The (DC) - Thursday, December 2, 1993
