Peterson, 78, Linn Grove were held Wednesday morning, September 7, at 10:30 a.m. from the Riverside Presbyterian church in Linn Grove with Rev. David Bruneau and Pastor Alfred Walck assisting. Mrs. Jerry McKeever was the organist and accompanied Mrs. Carl Jones as she sang "How Great Thou Art". Pallbearers were Carol Fries. Laura Hazel Thomas Peterson, was born May 30, 1899 in Butler county, near New Hartford, lowa, the daughter of William J. and Jenny Powell Thomas. The family lived here for about a year and then moved to the Linn Grove area and this is where she had made her home for almost 77 years. She attended school here, became a member of the Riverside Presbyterian church. She was united in marriage with Elmer E. Peterson in 1920. To this union were born four children: Elwyn LeRoy, Beryl Madge, Ronald Dean and Arlene Rose. She was a member of the Presbyterian Ladies Aide, and she enjoyed her many friends and her family and doing things for others. Laura took sick at her home in Linn Grove Monday morning, Sept.5, 1977, and passed away there about 9:30 a.m. at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 5 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Roy and her husband Elmer in 1952. She is survived by two sons and their wives. Dean and Sharon and Elwyn and Mary Peterson, all of Spencer; two daughters and their husbands. Beryl and Leonard Anderson and Arlene and Bill Valentine both of Linn Grove; one brother, Archie Thomas of Linn Grove; two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Stone of Marathon and Mrs. Mary Cockrum of Scottsdale, Arizona; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
