Description	:	River Press, 11 February 1987 Laura R. "Ole" Miller, 91, passed away in her sleep, January 30, 1987 at the home of her sister Edith Horn in Deer Lodge, Montana. "Ole" was the first child of Charles H. and Ida McLeish Ragland and was born June 7, 1895 at their ranch home, known as the "Middle Ranch" of the Benton Sheep Company. "Ole" Miller, 91, passed away in her sleep, January 30, 1987 at the home of her sister Edith Horn in Deer Lodge, Montana. "Ole" was the first child of Charles H. and Ida McLeish Ragland and was born June 7, 1895 at their ranch home, known as the "Middle Ranch" of the Benton Sheep Company. She attended schools in Fort Benton and Busheys Business College in Appleton, Wisconsin. "Ole" returned to Fort Benton and worked as a stenographer for T.C. Power and later for the Chouteau County Clerk and Recorder. She married George D. Daniels in Great Falls in 1920. After his death in 1951 she returned to Fort Benton and lived with her brother, Ben Ragland and family. She was employed at the Ragland Grocery, which was sold to Ray and Genny Bennett the fall of 1954, and she also worked for them. "Ole" married Claude E. Miller of Fort Benton in 1958; he died in 1977. She had also taught school at Garrison in 1945 and Lincoln in 1946. She maintained her home in Lincoln and managed to spend part of every summer there. "Ole" was a charter member of the Fort Benton Women's Club and the Deer Lodge Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. They performed their funeral services for her Sunday, February 1, at 7:30 p.m. On Monday, February 2 at 2:00 p.m. services were held at First Presbyterian Church in Deer Lodge. Graveside services were Tuesday, February 3, at 1:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Fort Benton. Pall bearers were Charles Horn, Stafford Texas (a nephew) and Melvin Buck, all of Deer Lodge; Gordon Prescott, Lincoln; William Morrison, Len Crane and Ray Bennett of Fort Benton. Following the services refreshments were served by Madeline Ragland and friends at her home. "Ole" was preceded in death by two brothers (Charles J. and Ben) and three sisters (Rae Ragland, Idabel Greene and Jane Woodahl). She is survived by three sisters: Edith Horn, Deer Lodge; Dorothy Knight and Irene Derrer of Oceanside, California; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials to the Fort Benton Memorial Ambulance or the Fort Benton Community Improvement Association.
