Mr. Miller was born Jan. 8, 1886, in Bluffton, Indiana, son of Franklin T. and Matilda Houtz Miller. March 1, 1910, with brothers Clyde and Guy, now deceased, he came to Fort Benton and homesteaded on land in the western portion of Pleasant Valley, along with others from Indiana. Their parents came three years later. Claude Miller and brother Clyde farmed in that area for years and gradually built up a cattle herd. They retired from the farm in 1956. Claude married Laura Ragland Daniels on Sept. 26, 1958. The couple continued to make their home here, spending summer seasons at a home in Lincoln. He was a member of Benton Lodge No. 25, AF&AM, and of Great Falls Consistory, Scottish Rite Bodies. Survivors are his wife; a sister, Mrs. Roy (Hazel) Swerdfeger, Prescott Valley, Ariz.; nephew, Dale Harnish, of Great Falls, and two nieces.
