Lawrence Fletcher, an Akron resident for many years, passed away in his sleep at his home at Akron Thursday morning, August 14, 1947, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 8 days. Lawrence Fletcher, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Fletcher, was born on a farm near Durham, Missouri, June 6, 1871, where he grew to young manhood. Lawrence Fletcher, an Akron resident for many years, passed away in his sleep at his home at Akron Thursday morning, August 14, 1947, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 8 days. Lawrence Fletcher, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Fletcher, was born on a farm near Durham, Missouri, June 6, 1871, where he grew to young manhood. On September 18, 1898, he was married to Nora Jane Nall, also of Durham. To this union eleven children were born: Edgar, of Des Plaines, ILL; Muriel and Maude, at home; Quigley, of Palatine, Illinois; Roland of Akron; Lora who teaches in Garretson, S.D., Lorene, who preceded her father in death; Raymond, of Elk Point, S.D.; Floyd, Darcy and Elmo, who farm near Akron. Besides his wife and children, he also leaves to mourn his passing, three brothers, Oscar, of Wibaux, Montana; George, of Dickinson, North Dakota; Arthur, of Hot Springs, South Dakota; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Smizer of Akron; Mrs. Bird Hurst of Durham, Missouri, and Mrs. Pearl Dill, of Fort Morgan, Colorado; also by 16 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In 1901, Mr. Fletcher, with his family, moved to Iowa, where they lived several years, and then moved to a farm west of Akron, where they resided until his retirement from active farming and moved to Akron in the fall of 1944. Rev. A.A. Howe, of the Methodist church, officiated at the services Sunday afternoon in the absence of the Baptist pastor. Pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased—Percy and Charles Smizer, Wm.
