Read More	EBBEKA, LAWRENCE HENRY—Lawrence Henry Ebbeka was born to Henry Ebbeka and Ella Adelheid Sophia Dora Wickens Ebbeka on June 1, 1910, at Carleton. He passed away at his home in Geneva, at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 9 days. He was one of five children in the family. Lawrence was born on a farm just outside of Carleton. The family moved to a farm south of Geneva when Lawrence was seven years of age. While on the farm, he attended Rural District No. 35 through the eighth grade. Lawrence remained on the farm, raising his own family, until he retired and moved to Geneva in 1979. His entire life was devoted to his family and to his farm. He was married to Frances Geraldine Hutchens of Geneva, on Feb. 18, 1944, and to them four children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ella; by his wife, Frances; brothers, William and Walter; and by sister, Emma Fuller. He is survived by his children, Diane Jacobsen and husband, John, Robert Ebbeka and wife, Connie, Gerald and wife, Dee, Sue Lottman and husband, James; sister, Eda Kelch; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, with Rev. Brian Kottas officiating. Musical selections were “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden.” Servings as casket bearers were Robert and Gerald Ebbeka, Jim Lottman, Jim Jacobsen, Robert Ebbeka Jr. and Don Hutchens.
