Description	:	Lazurus was the 4th child of John Whited (born Surry Co. N.C.) and Margaret Hubble/Hubbell (born Smythe Co. VA). They were married in Wythe Co. Virginia and had their first 4 children there. The family moved to Shelby County, Indiana, where John farmed. Seven more children were born there. Lazarus married Polly Tombleson or Tomlinson 1 March 1838 and they had 4 children. Lazarus married Polly Tombleson or Tomlinson 1 March 1838 and they had 4 children. They lived on the east side of the county, and in Warren and Jasper Counties. In July 1847, Polly died and Lazarus remarried 28 Jan. 1848 in Polk Co., IA to Drucilla Dowell. One son was born to this union before she died in October of that year. Ruth Maria Surber became his third wife on 18 April 1850 in Polk Co. Iowa. The family lived in Warren Co. where they farmed. 7 children were born to this couple in Warren County. They buried daughter Tama (born ca: 1868) and son Luther (b. ca:1870) before they moved to Cass Co. Iowa, near Atlantic. Two more children were born there before Ruth died in Sept. 1870. On Feb. 16, 1871 Lazarus married for the 4th time to Martha Ann (Dowell-said to be the sister of his 2nd wife) Pearson in Des Moines, Polk Co.IA. She brought 4 children into the marriage (one of whom married Lazarus & Ruth's daughter, Mary Ann). Two more children were born to this union. The family lived and farmed in Cass County Iowa.
