Description	:	Leah Mae Opel Beitzel was born 9 January 1894, the 4th child of Peter and Mary Brenneman Opel. She had a grade school education and was a homemaker all of her life. She had a happy childhood with all her brothers and sisters playing tricks on one another and with a father who enjoyed his children, taking them for sleigh rides, gathering nuts, and all the nice things an old fashioned family did together. Read More	Leah Mae Opel Beitzel was born 9 January 1894, the 4th child of Peter and Mary Brenneman Opel. She had a grade school education and was a homemaker all of her life. She had a happy childhood with all her brothers and sisters playing tricks on one another and with a father who enjoyed his children, taking them for sleigh rides, gathering nuts, and all the nice things an old fashioned family did together. Her mother kept busy doing household chores. Leah enjoyed school, she was a good student and was the best speller in her class. On June 14, 1914, Leah traveled to Oakland, Garrett Co, MD by horse and buggy to be married to Jacob C. Beitzel, son of Christian and Susannah Beitzel neighboring farmers. The couple had ten children. Leah lived 27 years as a widow after Jaked died. She died at home "Wild Cherry Tree Meadow" on Accident-Bittinger Road on Feb 2, 1980. She had kept her membership in the Mennonite church and was Buried in Glades Mannonite Church Cemetery. Some have said they have seen her ghost around the old house on Accident Bittinger Road.
