Read More	Just before 12:00 o'clock, Saturday night, Mrs. Lecetta Hayes died at her home in Franklin, after having been in poor health for about fifteen months, the last six weeks of which she had been in a critical condition and had been constantly cared for by her daughters and grand-daughters. Lecetta Pearson was born in South Bend, Indiana, May 15, 1857, and passed away at her home in Franklin, Nebraska, November 23, 1929, aged 72 years, 6 months and 8 days. Her early childhood was spent in the place of her birth, where she attended school. At the age of fifteen years she came with her parents to Nebraska, coming on the train to Lowell and then by covered wagon to this county, where her father took a homestead three miles south of Franklin. Here they endured all the privations and hardships of that early period, but with the true spirit of the hardy pioneers whose energy and fearlessness made Nebraska a safe and pleasant place in which to live, they made light of their troubles and enjoyed life, even though grasshopper year was very discouraging. There were Indians throughout this section and buffaloes were plentiful. On September 7, 1873, she was united in marriage to Robert Hayes and a home was established on a pre-emption one and one-half miles west of the present site of Franklin and in 1879, the railroad came, and came through their farm. They still were combating the early day hardships, but were happy in their farm home, until November 17, 1911, when the husband passed away. Mrs. Hayes, with her family, remained in the old home until July 1914, when she left the farm and moved to Franklin, where she had since made her home. To Mrs. and Mrs. Hayes, twelve children were born, all living to manhood and womanhood, three of whom have passed away to that better land. They are Edith, who died in 1906, Mrs. Daisy Pearson in 1916, and Mrs. Rosa Martin in 1926. The surviving children are Mrs. Mary James, Culbertson, Nebr.; Thomas Hayes, Franklin; Albert Hayes, Bloomington; Cleve Hayes and Mrs. Geneva Martin, Franklin, James Hayes, Clarksdale, Missouri; Jack Hayes, Alhambra, California; Mrs. Ella Williams and Mrs. Anna Cordle, Franklin. A sister, Mrs. Ida Haberman, lives at Constantine, Michigan and a brother, Charles Pearson, resides at Hull, Mass. She also leaves 31 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mrs. Hayes was a loving mother, who had the love of her children and a neighbor whose many kind deeds endeared her to all with whom she came in contact. Her passing will be mourned in many homes and the sympathy of the many friends goes out to the bereaved ones. Early in life she took Jesus Christ as her Savior, uniting with the Baptist church, and lived a good, consistent, christian life to the end. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Congregational church, in charge of Rev. H. W. Cox, in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends.
