Description	:	Leonard Wells Leonard Wells, 63, of Cotesfield died Thursday, May 1, 1986 while working in his fields near Cotesfield. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia, with the Rev. Paul Kern officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Scotia. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 - 8:30 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia. Mr. Wells was born on June 24, 1922 in Cotesfield to Jacob and Elizabeth Karre Wells. He grew up on the family farm east of Cotesfield and attended District 5 rural school and the Cotesfield School. On March 11, 1945, he married Louise Bredthauer at Mira Valley. He farmed for a short time until serving in the U. S. Army from June 1945 until September 1946. While in the service, he spent some time in Italy. After the service, he came back to farm a half-mile from his home place and lived there until his death. Mr. Wells was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Scotia, where he served onvarious church boards and committees and was the chairman of the building committee to build the present church. He was past commander of District 6 of the American Legion. He also served on the Howard and Greeley County Public Power Board since 1971. He was a director of the Omaha Livestock Producers for more than 30 years. He served on the National Livestock Producers board from 1972-81, and also on the National Livestock and Meat Board from 1979-81. Survivors include his wife, Louise; one son, Gary of Ashill, England; one daughter, Karen of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren; one brother, Lester of Cotesfield, and two sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Mildred) Bredthauer of Wood River and Mrs. Lewis (Fern) Klein of Preston, Minn.
