Description	:	DUNNELLON, Fla. - Leonard J. Kuka, 83, of Dunnellon, Fla., and former resident of Havre, died after a long illness, May 3, 1995. Graveside services for burial of his cremated remains will be held at Highland Cemetery in Havre on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m. with Father Patrick R. Zabrocki officiating. Graveside services for burial of his cremated remains will be held at Highland Cemetery in Havre on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m. with Father Patrick R. Zabrocki officiating. Kuka was born Dec. 27, 1911, son of Peter J. and Mary (Wodarz) Kuka in Glasgow. He moved with his parents at a very young age to Havre where he attended grammar school and Havre High School. While in high school, he played both varsity basketball and football. He was honored with a full football scholorship at the University of Montana. While at the University of Montana he was a starter all four years, playing both offensive and defensive tackle. After college graduation in 1934, he received many offers to play professional football, but chose employment with the State of Montana. Before army service in World War II, Kuka began federal government civilian service at Fort Missoula. His postings with the Air Force led him to El Paso, Texas, Omaha, Neb., am=nd Miami. He retired as head civilian personal officer at Homestead Air Force Base in 1966. Kuka and his wife had resided in Rainbow Springs at Dunnellom, Fla. since 1978. He supported the U.M. Grizzlies. He was a lifetime supporter of varsity athletics and was a member of The Touchdown Club. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Marion McLaughlin Kuka of Dunnellon; a son Peter James Kuka of Coral Springs, Fla.; a granddaughter, Shawn Michelle Williams, and a great-grandaughter, Morgan Scribner Williams, both of Chapel Hill, N.C.; a sister, Joan Kuka Gillespie of Missoula; a brother, Archie Kuka of Havre; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Ray and Tom, both of Havre. Havre Daily News (MT), 29 Aug 1995
