Description	:	Mr. L. Paul Pickett, age 60, died Saturday, October 31, 1992 at his residence, Route 3, Independence, Va. He was born July 22, 1932 in Camp, Va. to Claude and Leona Houk Pickett. He served twenty years in the U.S. Navy, being involved in the Korean Campaign and Viet Nam Conflict. He was co-owner and operator of the Quik-Chek Store in Independence. He was a member of Independence Masonic Lodge #129 A.F.&A.M., a member of Grayson County V.F.W. Post #7726. Pickett, Sugar Grove, Va.; two sisters, Ruth McMahan, Marion; Brenda Myers, Daleville; three brothers, Dean Pickett, Sugar Grove; Rev. Ralph Pickett, Lynchburg; Dan Pickett, Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchildren, Kristen Pickett, Independence; Lori Pickett, Michael Pickett, both of Chillicothe, Ohio; a stepgrandson, Scott Wagner, Independence. Funeral service will be conducted Monday, November 2, 1992 at 2:00 p.m. in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Sexton and the Rev. Fred E. Jennings officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Masonic Rites will be conducted at the funeral home Sunday at 8:30 p.m. by Independence Masonic Lodge #129, A.F.&A.M. Military Rites will be conducted at the graveside by Grayson County V.F.W. Post #7726. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the Independence Volunteer Fire Department or Independence Rescue Squad.
