(They were separated at the time of Bud's death.) OBITUARY Leroy E. "Bud" Friend, Jr., 50, of Friendsville, MD, formerly of Brighton Twp., died Thursday, August 27, 2015, at his residence. Born June 3, 1965, in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late Leroy E. Sr. and Ruth (Turner) Friend. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Friend. Bud was self-employed in construction and was passionate about farming. He is survived by two sons, Garrett C. Friend and Gavin L. Friend and his wife, Macey, all of Pittsburgh; one brother, Jeffrey A. Friend, Beaver Falls; one sister, Leigh Friend, Brighton Twp. and a grandson, Elias Friend. Bud was laid to rest beside his parents and sister at the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren Cemetery, McHenry, MD. Friend) NOTE 1: Services and internment were private, arranged by his son Garrett and Gavin. Pastor Joseph Spiker of the Sang Run Christian Center officiated. NOTE 2: Bud struggled with substance abuse for many, if not most, of his 50 years. He died of a drug overdose on the morning of August 27, 2015. At the time of his death, he was residing at a farm deeded to him and his sister Leigh Anne by their mother Ruth Ann Friend prior to her death. The farm located near Friendsville, Maryland was formerly the Hubert Friend "Flat Rock" Farm.
