Leslie William Petersen was born May 3, 1914, at Plainview to William and Laura (Hemmingsen) Petersen and passed away Jan. 13, 1999, at Plainview Area Health System. His education was received in Pierce County District 12. On Dec. 14, l941, he was married to Clara Edna Myers at the Congregational Church in Plainview. They moved to the Petersen family farm five miles south of Plainview. In 1944 he bought a farm 7 ½ miles south of Plainview and they lived and raised/their family there until 1968 They then moved to their present location one-half mile south of Plainview. While farming he served as a lineman for the telephone company for 15 years and also worked for Milford Walton for 10 years after retiring from farming. He also worked for the City of Plainview at the city landfill. Les enjoyed making all sorts or crafts for the lawn and other crafts for the family, working on his lawn mower equipment and taking care of the lawn and garden, listening to country music and playing cards with family and friends. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. His parents, two brothers, Edwin and Harvey, and two sisters, Stella Miller and Esther Lambert, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Clara Petersen of Plainview; two sons and their spouses, Larry and Lois Petersen of Plainview and Dennis and Arla Petersen of Norfolk; and one daughter, Margaret and her husband Kenny Mosel of Neligh, and several grand and great grandchildren.
