Description	:	Petersen Rites Held Funeral services were held Saturday, February 20, at the Methodist Church for Arthur William Petersen, who died February 18 at the Plainview General Hospital after a short illness. The rev. Francis St. Amant officiated at the rites. Pall bearers were Julius Thompson, Irvin Miller, Lloyd Johnson, Fred Petersen, Leonard Larson and Carl Jensen. Honorary bearers were Grant Larson, Nels Petersen, Weaver Larson, Wiggo Larson, Clark Fulton and Ernest Miller. Interment was in the Danish Cemetery. Arthur William Petersen, son of Lars and Marie Petersen, was born January 17, 1885, south of Plainview and departed at the age of 75 years, one month and one day. Mr. Petersen was baptized as an infant and at the time of his death was a member of the Methodist Church in Plainview. Most of his life was spent in the Stark Valley community where on April 29, 1909, he was united in marriage to Laura Marie Hemmingsen and settled on a farm. They were blessed with four sons and four daughters. On May 21, 1941, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Bessie Sothan and for the past 10 years established their home in Plainview. He is survived by his wife, Bessie; sons Leslie, Edwin, Harvey and Dwaine; daughters, Stella Miller, Vera Young, Alta Rae all of Plainview and Esther Lambert of Pierce; 24 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother Elmer, besides a host of nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Laura, his parents, sister Eldora and one grandson.
