Description	:	Lewis Henry Higgins, was born near Hillsboro, Highland County, Ohio, August 10, 1825 and died at his home in Villisca, January 13, 1899, aged 73 years, 5 months, and 3 days. He moved from Ohio to Henderson, Illinois in 1868 and to Villisca in 1873. His father, James Higgins was an exhorter in the M. E. Church for forty years and reached the ripe age of 70. Read More	Lewis Henry Higgins, was born near Hillsboro, Highland County, Ohio, August 10, 1825 and died at his home in Villisca, January 13, 1899, aged 73 years, 5 months, and 3 days. He moved from Ohio to Henderson, Illinois in 1868 and to Villisca in 1873. His father, James Higgins was an exhorter in the M. E. Church for forty years and reached the ripe age of 70. There were eight children, five boys and three girls, all Christians, all brained by pious parents, and the deceased is the last member to enter the rest that remains for the people of God. Brother Higgins was united in marriage with Catherine Powers in 1845 near Hillsboro, Ohio. To them were given four children, (one died in early childhood) Henry Samuel, and Libbie survive. Mrs. Higgins died July 28, 1897, after a life journey together of more than 50 years, thus sharing with each other in Christian patience the trials and conflicts of life. Our departed brother had a word of cheer for all and a sweet smile for those who greeted him. To know him was to love and respect him. He became a Christian in early manhood and died as he lived, a true man of God. He was a loved class leader for many years and in young life, led the singing in church services. May the world be blessed with many such good men. The funeral services occurred Saturday afternoon at the M. E. Church, pastor Hobansholt in charge. A large number of friends and fellow church members of decades were present at the services. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
