Description	:	OBITUARY:Mrs Liddie Captola Barklow Straub was born at Myrtle Point, Ore., Dec. 16, 1878. While a child she moved with her parents, Hiram and Isabelle Barklow, to Illinois, where she lived until a young lady. At that time they moved to Summerfield, Kas., where she became a member of the Methodist Church. She was the oldest of five children, and after their own mother's death Miss Liddie Barklow took upon herself the responsibility of forgetting her own life in the interests of the rest of the family, and in this way played the part of the mother in the home... Read More	OBITUARY:Mrs Liddie Captola Barklow Straub was born at Myrtle Point, Ore., Dec. 16, 1878. While a child she moved with her parents, Hiram and Isabelle Barklow, to Illinois, where she lived until a young lady. At that time they moved to Summerfield, Kas., where she became a member of the Methodist Church. She was the oldest of five children, and after their own mother's death Miss Liddie Barklow took upon herself the responsibility of forgetting her own life in the interests of the rest of the family, and in this way played the part of the mother in the home where she was reared. Feb. 25, 1903, she was married to Arthur Straub. She spent most of her married life in Pawnee County where she reared her own family. She not only proved to be a true and devoted mother, but as a devoted friend to all who knew her, because in her mind, life and daily activities she placed her loved ones and friends in the foreground and placed her own life in the background. After living a life consecrated to others, she died at the Pawnee City hospital April 9 at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 27 days. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Straub; four children, Oscar Straub, Mrs. Anna Mae Peacock, Mrs. Mary Scott and Miss Elizabeth Straub; three sisters, Mrs. Priscilla Seaton of Dalles, Ore., Mrs. Myrtle Turnbull of Vliets, Kas., and Mrs. Augusta Richardson of Burchard; one brother, Oscar Barklow of Summerfield, two grandchildren, Robert Peacock and Evelyn Scott, a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by one brother, Hugh Barklow. Her life of loving, devoted service to others stands as a sentry on the horizon of time and a challenge to others. Funeral services were held at the Wherry Chapel in Pawnee City Sunday afternoon by Leonard Hartwig, pastor of the Bookwalter and Burchard Methodist churches. A quartet, Mrs. A.J. Cope, Mrs. Virginia Thiemann, Robert Carter and Bob Lantz, sang, with Mrs. Louis Findies at the piano. Burial was in the Pawnee City cemetery. (From the Pawnee Republican)
